Maui SilverSword Planting Is A Go!

Posted on January 6, 2011 by WT

When: Wednesday January 12

Where: Meet at the Kula Lodge at 8:00 AM

We are very excited to be able to participate in this rare opportunity to help the Maui DLNR with their Silver Sword restoration and preservation project!

As you know the Hawaiian Silvor Sword is an endangered native plant and we are honored to be able to help “Kula Lance” and the Maui DLNR with this very important project.

We need 10 volunteers to come up with us to Haleakala on Wednesday January 12 to brave the cold and rocky terrain and play a small part in this very important Maui restoration project.

Bring in the new year by giving back to the island that has given us all so much. We live in a very special, beautiful and fragile place. Your help in bringing balance and strength to our precious ecosystem is greatly appreciated.

It is going to be cold so be sure to bundle up and wear warm clothes as if you were going on a ski vacation. Hiking boots are recommended due to the rough terrain.

You will also want to bring your own lunch and snacks. While we should only be planting for 3 or 4 hours we will have an opportunity to take a lunch break. Also, be sure to bring plenty of water.

We are meeting at the Kula Lodge at 8:00 am and will provide transportation to the planting area. If you are on the West Side it may be possible to car pool to the lodge.
